Behind Kite Maroc: Meet Majid
Meet Majid, a pioneer in the Kite & Surf in Essaouira with over 25 years in the industry. A self taught kitesurfer, who also is the Moroccan Kitesurf Champion in 2007. From 2005 beginnings to new beginnings in 2026, Majid continues to follow his passion and sharing it with the world.
From 2004 to the present day…
Some surfers & Kitesurfers start young, have fun and then “grow up”, have a family, get a “real” job and stop going to the water. Then there the ones that integrate it into their daily lives. The ones that keep water nearby and dedicate their livelihoods to it. Surfing or kiting almost everyday, teaching with passion and experience. Sharing the stoke with younger generations. Build a family around this shared love of watersports.
This is Majid. Founder & Owner of Kite Maroc, Majid is passionate about his lifelong dedication and shares that with every student, rider whether beginner or advanced. Following this passion across borders to Spain, immigrating and managing Explora Watersports in Tarifa, Spain then moving to manage one of Dakhla’s biggest Watersport Centres in Morocco. He has been featured on CNN (see video here) in his earlier days with Nasser at Explora, and most recently spotlighted in European Surf Documentary Surf On Europe. See 2026 Euro screening dates here.
